At Byron Bay Bone Broth, sustainability isn’t a buzzword; it’s a blueprint for how we do business.
From the start, we’ve made it our mission to minimise waste, support ethical farming, and reduce our environmental footprint without compromising on quality. While many brands lean on the notion of recycling as their eco-credential, we’ve learned that sustainability begins long before packaging. It starts at the source — and continues through every step of the supply chain.
Rethinking the Recycle Myth
Recycling is often positioned as the gold standard of environmental responsibility. But research tells a different story. Many single-use plastics, including those marked “recyclable”, never actually get recycled. What’s worse, the recycling process itself can be energy-intensive and inefficient.
The most sustainable action? Creating less waste to begin with.
That’s why we take a closed-loop approach to our production. Every chicken we source is part of a broader ecosystem of regenerative agriculture, and every part of the animal is used to create nutrient-dense broth, powders, or supplements. Nothing goes to landfill.
Partnering with Ethical Farmers
We proudly source our chickens from Inglewood Farms, Australia’s leading certified organic poultry producer. Their birds roam freely, are fed a certified organic diet, and are raised without hormones or antibiotics. What this means for you is clean, traceable nutrition and what it means for the planet is a farming practice that gives back more than it takes.
Slow Production, Less Waste
We don’t rush our process. Our broths are slow-simmered for 24 hours in small batches using the same three 500L pots we started with years ago. Why? Because mass production usually means mass waste, water, packaging, and energy. We keep things small, local, and deliberate, because better quality often comes from doing less, not more.
Packaging With Purpose
Where possible, we use compostable, recyclable, or reusable packaging materials, and we continually explore better options. But we know the real impact comes from what’s inside: a product so nutrient-dense and multi-use that one jar can serve dozens of health rituals.
The Real Green Standard
Mindful living isn’t about perfection. It’s about consistent, conscious choices. Whether that’s choosing products that support whole animal utilisation, saying no to single-use plastics, or supporting companies with transparent supply chains, it all adds up.
At Byron Bay Bone Broth, we’ll continue to challenge industry standards and educate our community on the difference between marketing and meaning.
